Calla Lilies Color work & Redwork

With the arrival of Spring, I'm reminded of new beginnings with the blossoming of flowers. This year, lilies in particular. I've always thought calla lilies were beautiful and usually have a bouquet for Easter. But until I digitized this set of Color work and Redwork Callas, I honestly had no idea they came in colors other than white or yellow and just like roses, each color has their own meaning! If you're interested, you can read more about calla lily meanings, here. I'm sure you can Google more sources, but I found that one to be short and to the point.

Symbolizing holiness and faith, purity and innocence, sophistication and charm, tranquility and peace, the magnificent beauty of the Calla Lily has many meanings. Whether you're stitching the designs on table linens to grace your Easter dinner table or creating a bridal quilt, you'll find many more uses in between, especially if you use the meanings of their colors. These are great for borders and will also compliment other quilt blocks sets on The Country Needle website.

Saint Patrick's Day Gift To You

In November of last year, I introduced a Scoodie Project in which one of the photos showed a Celtic Knotwork Heart that I had digitized. With St. Patrick's Day coming up, I've had several asking where they could get that design. I haven't had the chance yet to finish the set that this design will become part of, so I thought I would offer the one I did get done as my St. Patty's Day gift to you.
You are welcome to download it by clicking here.  If you'd like to see more Celtic Knotwork Designs be sure to visit The Country Needle Embroidery Designs.
Celtic Knotwork Heart stitched in metallic green.
And being that I'm Irish and Saint Patrick's Day is tomorrow, I couldn't close with out quoting a traditional Irish Blessing  : )

"May your blessings outnumber the shamrocks that grow and may trouble avoid you wherever you go."

Have a wonderful and creative weekend and as always...
Happy Stitching!

Custard Bread Pudding

Rich, Creamy, Warm & Delicious Bread Custard Pudding

2 cups whole milk          2/3 cup sugar
1 cup heavy cream         1/4 tsp. salt
2 TBS butter                   3 cups dry bread cubes
5 eggs, beaten               (5-6 slices of good quality bread -homemade works best!)
1 tsp. vanilla                  Cinnamon and nutmeg
1/4 tsp rum flavoring

Scald milk and cream in a heavy saucepan. Stir in butter to melt. Set pan aside to cool slightly. In a mixing bowl combine, beaten eggs, vanilla, rum flavoring, sugar and salt. Gradually stir milk into egg mixture then stir in bread cubes. Butter a 2 qt baking dish and pour custard in.  Sprinkle cinnamon and nutmeg as desired. Set dish in a pan of hot water which covers the baking dish about 1 inch from the bottom. Bake in 350 degree oven 40-50 minutes or until custard sets and knife inserted in center comes out clean.

Serve warm.
